My Role

I had the lead role in the project. I came up with the big idea. Then I led the research through usability studies and prototyping. Finally executed up with the navigation and total look of the Rock On.

Project Goal

Rock On T-Shirts is an online custom t-shirts store with a twist. Most of the providers online are dated with their customization as well as their printing and fabrics. Due to this reason a huge market sector of t-shirts that is embedded in musician community does not use it. Rock On is projecting to these customers who are artistic, creative and have a desire to mirror their imagery is what they wear. Most importantly because they resell these t-shirts as their own merchandise.

Target Audience

Target Users are exclusively musicians are artists who resell these t-shirts after customizing them online. In many cases they place the order directly for their customers or fans.

Key Challenges & Constraints

The key challenge was to find the missing link on the existing market. Of course there was an appetite for a new wave custom tee site but we went ahead and understood the needs of musicians, artists, You Tubers, influencers and people on Patreon who wanted a way to develop merchandise without placing a big quantity order.

Research Study Details

There were lot of interesting findings. We exclusively positioned ourselves by researching with artists and creators who we were looking to resell the t-shirts made through online customization. This is a niche positioning because they won’t be wearing it but will be shipping it to their fans with their profit margin. There is a huge market for such customers on You Tube which varies from influencers to bands and from personal trainers to personal development visionaries.

What I learned

What we learned was tremendously helpful in understanding as to how our target customers want to project themselves through our service. They wanted an interface that was cool looking, navigation enabled on modern functionality and feel. In many cases they were routing their fans directly to our site who would be placing orders directly after paying to support their respective artists on Patreon. Therefore it was necessary for us to emulate the same feel, imagery and stylistic touch that our target customers wanted to retain.
